Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls / Season 3 vil vare mindst fire måneder

Great to see all the reasons people enjoy Seasons! I totally agree that it’s about the journey, not the destination, and seasons allow us to enjoy the journey again. I also enjoy seasons for the fresh start and playing with all my friends again. I love that feeling of progressing from rare items to assorted legendary items to finishing a 6-piece set.

While we’re on the topic of Seasons, I want to share some information regarding Season length. We generally feel that Season 1 was on the long side, and that Season 2 was on the short side. We want to strike a balance between having enough points in time when we can all commence this journey together, but also allow enough time for characters to mature. Expect Season 3 to be at least 4 months long. While the exact end date is not yet known, we plan on once again giving 2 weeks’ notice before Season 3 ends.

PATCH HIGHLIGHTS

GENERAL

  • New Seasonal rewards have been added to the game, including two new transmogrification appearances, a new pennant, and a new portrait frame
  • Several improvements have been made to looting items in mass
    • Developer comments: This patch we took a hard look at our auto-pickup rules. We started by looking at an option to auto-pickup potions but as we discussed this further we realized it made more sense to just remove normal potions from the game completely. For crafting materials and gems we want to avoid simply having them auto-pickup but with the introduction of certain Treasure Goblin variants last patch the amount of clicking was excessive. We've implemented what we call "vacuum pickup" to alleviate how often you have to click to pick up a large quantity of items while maintaining some aspect of the physical pickup act.
    • Regular health potions have been removed from the game
      • The health potion slot on the action bar is now a Bottomless Heath Potion that will heal you for 60% of your maximum Life
      • The functionality of Legendary potions is unchanged
    • Looting a crafting material will now also pick up all other materials of the same type within 20 yards
    • Looting a gem will now also pick up all other gems within 20 yards
  • A Wardrobe has been added to the town in each act next to Myriam the Mystic
    • Clicking on the Wardrobe will open a new cosmetic window in which players can manage any wings, pets, pennants, and portrait frames unlocked on their account

  • Developer comments:
    • A new class set has been added for the Barbarian, Demon Hunter, and Wizard. In addition, all classes have received updates to at least one of their existing sets.
    • This patch brings the introduction of many new Legendary rings. We hope to these rings lead to new and exciting build opportunities for players to explore.
    • Legendary powers on a number of existing items have been added or improved. Note that these changes are not retroactive and only apply to items found after 2.2.0. As a rule, we try to not to change existing Legendary items, though we will often make an exception for Set items. This is because Set items work in conjunction with each other and creating a new set would force players who have an existing set to start over.

In preparation for the launch of patch 2.2.0, we will be shutting down the PTR today at approximately 11:00 a.m. PDT. At that time, you will no longer be able to log in to the PTR client, all PTR accounts will be reset, and the PTR Feedback and PTR Bug Report forums will be marked as read-only.

Please note that any progress you made on the PTR will not transfer over to your Diablo III account.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this PTR and provided feedback. We look forward to releasing patch 2.2.0 to the public shortly!

Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls / Season 2 slutter snart

Season 2 slutter snart

We've been thrilled to see so many players actively participating in Season 2 as well as on the PTR for our upcoming 2.2.0 patch. Your feedback has been integral in the great strides we've made towards not only our next patch, but our next Season. As we previously mentioned during our most recent Tavern Talk, we want to ensure our patching schedule provides the best player experience possible while allowing us to provide updates in a timely fashion. To facilitate this, we're moving towards the following model:

End the current Season
Launch our latest patch
Begin the next Season

We received a lot of feedback during Season 1 that thirty days was too long a time frame for an end of season announcement. For Season 2, we'd like to instead provide a two week notice. At the time of that notice, we will also provide the exact times that Season 2 will end as well as the date and exact times that Season 3 will begin.

Please note that this post is not the two-week warning. While we don't have that information to share with you today, we want those of you participating in the current Season to know what to expect moving forward so you might plan accordingly to meet your Seasonal goals.

In the meantime, we wish all Season 2 challengers the best of luck, whether it’s knocking out a Conquest, putting together your perfect set of gear, seeing how high you can get in Greater Rifts, or wherever your adventures may take you.

Hvad siger I?

Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls / Video: End of Season - overblik

End of Season - overblik

End of Season Overview

Det var fra starten meningen, at seasons, herunder Season 1, skulle vare 'et par måneder'. Som bekendt blev det til mere end 'et par'. Når Season 1 slutter i februar, vil den være over fem måneder gammel. Sådan bliver det ikke i fremtiden, hvor seasons vil være kortere, som det oprindeligt var intenderet fra Blizzards side. Nogle faktorer bevirkede, at den oprindelige tidsplan blev sat ud af spil. Det fortæller Nevalistis på reddit;

I hope season 2 doesn't last as long. I quit around early November. Diablo 3 isn't really a marathon game to me, something fun to play for a bit, but it gets really repetitive after awhile.
I am however ready to play some season 2!

We agree Season 1 was too long. We had originally planned on a few months, and things just didn't go as planned. We're aiming for the "few months" again with Season 2.

Vores danske ven Vaneras uddyber konceptet i citatet nedenfor.

The end of Season 1 is fast approaching, and with it, the end of our very first Era.

In Diablo III, an Era refers to a specific period of time in which non-Seasonal leaderboards are active. At the end of an Era, all current non-Seasonal leaderboard standings will be wiped and players will be unable to attain new leaderboard ranks until a new Era begins. Similar to Seasons, players will be able to view previous rankings in-game and as well as on our website.

Our first Era will be ending alongside our first Season. We currently anticipate the earliest date for the end of Era 1 (and Season 1) to be Tuesday, February 3. Era 2 will begin immediately after the end of Era 1, while Season 2 will begin sometime after the end of Season 1.

At the end of Season 1, all heroes created during the Season will become non-Seasonal and will be immediately able to compete on the Era 2 leaderboards. For more information on the end of the Season and upcoming Season rollover, click here.

Thank you for participating in our first Era! We look forward to seeing you in Sanctuary.

Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls / Patch 2.1.2 notes - patch live nu
« Dato: Januar 13, 2015, 11:31:07 pm »

87

As we prepare for patch 2.1.2 and the Season rollover, we wanted to share some important information regarding the timing of these two milestones.

Patch 2.1.2 And Season 1:

With respect to Seasons, our goal is to avoid implementing major balance changes towards the end of a Season. Ideally, patches and significant hotfixes will occur between Seasons or early enough in the Season that players have ample time to adjust to the new environment.

However, we discovered some technical risks in executing a simultaneous launch of patch 2.1.2 and the upcoming Season rollover, and it’s clear that trying to do both in tandem or close proximity would jeopardize both processes. This left us with two options:

    A) We launch patch 2.1.2 after the Season rollover. In this scenario, Seasonal players wouldn’t have access to any new 2.1.2 items including updated Set items, updated Legendary items, and the new Seasonal items for at least a couple of weeks after the Season went live.

    B) We could launch patch 2.1.2 before the Season rollover. In this scenario, this would impact Seasonal Leaderboard progression.

Not giving Seasonal players access to new items right away in Season 2 would take a lot of the excitement out of the start of that new Season. With this, we believe that by giving players a few weeks to adjust to patch 2.1.2 changes, and by allowing them to test existing changes on the PTR, the impact on the existing Leaderboards can be minimized.

After weighing both options carefully, we have decided to launch patch 2.1.2 three weeks prior to the Season rollover. This should provide players enough time to adjust to the patch changes before the Season ends as well as ensure that Season 1 is not prolonged further for those looking forward to Season 2.

Future Season Rollovers:

Season 1 has been a great learning experience for us and we aim to provide a smoother transition at the end of Season 2. In fact, our intent for future Seasons is to have the current Season end, the corresponding patch deployed, and then the following Season start—in that order. While we will not be able to do that for this inaugural Season rollover, this will be our plan for all rollovers moving forward.

For more information about the upcoming Season rollover, click here. To get a sneak-peek at upcoming patch 2.1.2 changes, click here.

Thank you for your patience and support. We hope to see you in Sanctuary and Season 2!

Nye PTR patch 2.1.2 notes

As we stated previously at BlizzCon, we want to avoid removing Conduit Pylons entirely. Conduits feel awesome and exciting when you get them, and that’s something we want to preserve. Not every player is (or will want to be) a top tier competitor, and it’s important that we retain these exciting moments for everyone. However, we recognize that Conduit is currently too good and we’re planning to nerf it.

Specifically, we want to lower its effectiveness against single targets. We’re making some changes in the next PTR patch to accomplish this. While you’ll see little to no change (and potentially some improvement) against multiple targets, it will be significantly less useful in single target scenarios. In addition, the damage dealt will scale off your weapon damage instead of the Greater Rift level. This means it will feel strongest at lower tier Greater Rifts, about the same at Greater Rifts that match your level of gear, and less effective at higher Greater Rifts. Overall, it should still feel cool and powerful to use, but not an ultimate game breaker or something you should hedge your entire build around.

Our intent is that we want there to (a) be a variety of pylons you can encounter and (b) no individual pylon should determine your success or failure. We know that’s not where we’re at right now, but that is the ultimate goal.

As an unrelated (but nifty) addendum, because sharing is caring: The Speed Pylon will also be changed slightly to automatically destroy breakable objects and doors while you retain the buff. It felt a little weird to run full stop into a door with this buff up, so now you'll just be able to rush right through barricades and the like. Personally, I'm excited to attempt breaking the sound barrier with Warzechian Armguards and Steed Charge on my Crusader with this. Maybe I can break 88 miles per hour!

Both these changes will be in the next PTR patch, and I highly encourage you to give them both a try once they go live.
